Wow! I can't believe it. Luke is already 4 months old. We went to his well child check up and guess how much he weighs now? He is 17 lbs on the nose. He is also 26.5 inches. What a bruiser! He is in the 95th percentile in both height and weight. People always ask me how old he is and then say, "oh, I was going to guess around 9 months." He's a big guy but we love every inch. He is rolling over, smiling, often, flirting with everyone, babbling alot, holding toys, putting everything in his mouth, starting to take some good naps, growing back some of the hair he lost, and sleeping through the night about half the time. And most importantly, he laughed for the first time yesterday watching his day try to swat a fly. I guess Rick looked really funny.
Also, I started working again in the middle of August :( and have been majorly busy ever since. I feel bad for little Luke, even though he is handling it like a champ. I think he likes spending time with both of his grandma's. I am so grateful for their help while I am gone. Afterall, they are more qualified than I am to care for a baby:). It feels like a dream to only be there at work 2.5 days a week. I get a 4 day weekend every week. Love it! And I love the time I get to spend with Luke.

Fat Babies!
Let me first say, I love fat babies. I don't know if Luke is the only one, but at 11 weeks, he weighed in at 15 lbs 8 oz. I'm starting to get a bit concerned. At the store people say, "Oh how cute. How old is he?" It's always funny to watch their face when I say he is 2 1/2 months. He is eating about 25 to 28 oz a day and from what I have read that is normal. However, some books have suggested we multiply his weight by 2.5 to determine the number of ounces he eats a day. At that rate he would be eating over 35 ounces a day. That doesn't sound right to me. My doctor says its normal but . . . . His cheeks are amazing and so are his thighs! Love those thighs!

Growing Boy!
Would you look at these cheeks. We recently went to Luk's 2 month check up and he was in the 90th percentile in height, weight and head circumference. He is weighing in at 13 lbs 6 oz, and 26 inches. What are we feeding this boy?

It's always fun when Grandma comes!
My mom came to stay with us for two weeks after Luke was born. It was such a blessing to have her here! She did so much to help us--we LOVE her SO MUCH! It's not as much fun when grandma leaves. Lucky for us Luke's other grandma lives right upstairs. She already loves to spoil Luke and hold him while we take naps! Rick and I are pretty spoiled to have such great moms!

Introducing Luke Richard Barton
On the 8th Rick an I went to the doctor and he recommended that I be induced the next day (which was a week early) because he thought the baby was around 9 pounds already! I have had gestational diabetes which tends to produce large babies. Anyway, on Friday night our beautiful boy arrived via C-section. We came home from the hospital last Monday after some rest in the hospital.
Luke Richard Barton was born on May 9th at 11:23 pm. He was 7 lbs 11 oz and 21 inches long. He looks a lot like Rick and has all of his fingers and toes, as my mom says. I'm not sure how much of my DNA he has except for the dark hair. He loves to stretch his long legs and has a very mellow temperament. We think he is amazing. So far, Rick loves changing diapers and being wet on, I love kissing this little guy and we both love taking naps whenever we can.
It took us til the last day in the hospital to decide on his name and Luke seemed to fit. We also really like the idea of naming him after someone. As the first son, he gets his daddy's name.
Welcome to the World Little Luke
Here are a few of Luke's first pictures. We are so excited to have him here. I just think he is so adorable and fun to take care of. He looks so much like his dad and is just as charming. How can you resist that little face? He is already 2 1/2 weeks old! The time is going by so quick and mostly I just spend my days holding him. That's why its taking me so long to get these pictures on here. I'll post again real soon with lots more pictures and details --promise!

Someone's Nesting
Lately, I've been cleaning out our house and painting, sewing and organizing for the babies room and I'm pretty excited about it. Yesterday, I was in the babies room and didn't really have anything else to do, when Rick asked me what I was doing. Basically, I was just sitting in there looking at all of the baby stuff for no good reason. I had to laugh at myself. Here are some pictures of what I've been having fun with lately, since a couple people wanted to see. We've got a little jungle theme going on in nursery.

Girl with a Giant Belly
My belly is large. It may be large enough to have baby . . . 2 months sooner than expected! Just thought I'd share my feelings with you. Feel free to comment on how big it is . . . lots of others do :). I'll post of picture of March's belly soon.
More Barton Woodworks Pictures
Well, I tried to turn these pictures right side up and just couldn't figure it out. It may be easier to do on a PC. I think I'll need some one-on-one tutoring. Anyway, enjoy looking at these pictures sideways and don't hurt your neck.
